Wendell was also very fond of fishing. Wendell was very active in his community and church. He was a charter member of Napoleon Knights of Columbus and served with that organization for 50 years. He served as a director of the Napoleon Farmers Union Elevator for 29 years. He also served for many years on the rural school board and the rural fire department, and he served as a Starkey Township officer.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Pat, and Phil and Clara, all of Bismarck, and Ken and Felisa, Santa Fe, N.M.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Paul Daly, Alexandria, Betty and Dennis Kost, Washburn; Lucia and Richard Gray, Sandy and Mike Kienzle, and Cynthia Kambeitz, all of Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; and two great one brother and sister-in-law, John and Bertha Kambeitz, Napoleon; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie and Math Gross, Bismarck; Barbara and Leo Gross, and Margaret and Mike Sperle, all of Napoleon. Wendell is also survived by numerous day-care children of two daughters who all called him He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Margaret Mary; three brothers, Andrew, George and Paul; and two sisters, Mary Fix and Theresia Glatt. The family will donate all memorials to St. Anne's and St. Mary's Grade Schools, Bismarck, for play ground equipment to commemorate his love for children.

In 1924, the family moved to McClusky, where she was raised and attended school. She married Art Brodehl, June 30, 1939, at Goodrich. They lived and farmed south of Goodrich.

In 1974 they moved into Goodrich. Mr. Brodehl died April 17, 1990. She helped manage the farming operation. For health reasons she had recently moved to Bismarck.

She enjoyed traveling, quilting, music and playing the piano. She served as secretary-treasurer at the former 'hurch of God in Goodrich for m. ny years. She was a member of Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Roger Helmer, Phillips, and Coreen and Hal Rolfson, Bismarck; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Terry and Reenie, Eden Prairie, and Tim, Fresno, her special friend, Julette Brodehl, Bismarck; one brother and sister-inlaw, Harold and Laura Hepper, McClusky; one sister, Hy Godfrey, Fresno; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
