The late Queen would have been “horrified” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s criticism of the Commonwealth, a royal expert has said. The Duchess of Sussex was appointed as vice-president of the Commonwealth Trust in March 2019, while her husband was president, with the hope the couple would breathe fresh life into the voluntary association of 56 nations – most of which were once part of the British Empire.
At the time, Meghan even claimed her work would “highlight the trust’s partnerships with young people across the Commonwealth, and in particular its work supporting women and girls”. But the couple left the trust when they stepped down as working royals in 2020 – and when they aired their Netflix docuseries in December 2022, the pair hired experts to criticise the institution.
The Daily Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden said: “It’s almost lucky that Queen Elizabeth isn’t alive to see this because the Commonwealth was so central to her and bringing people together. It’s a voluntary organisation whereas [in the documentary], it’s dismissed as this colonial body used for Britain to extract money and resources from the rest of the world. She would have been horrified.”
In the documentary, academic Afua Hirsch called the Commonwealth “Empire 2.0” while author Kehinde Andrews claimed “nothing has changed” from the UK’s colonial past, apart from the Royal Family’s “better PR”.

Prince Harry's security row caused by his 'error of judgement' - slams royal expert
Prince Harry returned to the UK for a brief visit last week to attend two days of court hearings. The Duke of Sussex, 40, was photographed arriving at the High Court twice last week to hear the latest in his court appeal against the 2020 decision made by the Home Office to reduce his security protection in the UK.
The decision was made after Harry stepped back from royal duty and moved across the pond to America, where he has lived for the past five years. However, despite no longer being a working royal, the prince has appealed against the decision and has refused to bring his family to the UK until he feels it is safe to do so. While some royal fans may feel sorry for the prince, one royal expert believes it is Harry’s own fault.

As well as Princess Anne’s son flying out with his girlfriend Harriet Sperling and her daughter, along with his own daughters Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13, he was also joined by quite a few royal relatives.
While some of the more senior royals did not make the trip, Peter -was also joined by his sister Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall. His cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their husbands, also made the trip overseas for the event.

Prince Harry's rare gift for Prince Louis
In July 2018, for Prince Louis's christening, Prince Harry presented his nephew with a rare and thoughtful gift - a first-edition copy of A.A. Milne's 'Winnie the Pooh'. This edition, dating back to 1926, was part of a limited print run of 30,000 copies and Harry reportedly purchased it for an eye-watering £8,000.
Initially, Harry considered gifting a first-edition of Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking-Glass', which was priced at £24,000. However, he ultimately decided on Winnie the Pooh, aiming to start a collection of rare books for his nephews and niece, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to appreciate as they grew older. The sentimental gift also served as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales' love for timeless literature.

Meghan Markle trying to 'monetise her life' - expert
Meghan Markle is trying to "monetise her life" when she should be getting outside her "comfort zone", a royal commentator has said. Jack Royston, Chief Royal Correspondent at Newsweek, suggested the Duchess of Sussex's millionaire lifestyle wasn't interesting enough for people.
He told The Sun's Royal Exclusive show Meghan has to go through a phase where her media ventures "don't quite land" with the public in order to "summon from within herself" the motivation to leave the house instead of just monetising her own life. The Duchess's 'With Love, Meghan' lifestyle series was released by Netflix in March.
In it, Meghan shares tips on cooking, gardening and playing host from a California estate. Critics have described the show as "toe-curlingly unlovable TV" and "an exercise in narcissism".

Prince Andrew faces new threat
Prince Andrew faces a new threat that could jeopardise his standing within the Royal Family. The Duke of York is under mounting pressure to relinquish his Royal titles following his withdrawal from public duties due to his association with convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite holding several titles such as Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh, he no longer makes public appearances. There are increasing calls for him to be stripped of these titles, which some argue bring disgrace to the areas he represents.

Princess Charlotte's special connection with Princess Diana
Princess Charlotte shares a special bond with her grandmother the late Princess Diana of Wales, as Charlotte was christened in the same location as her paternal grandmother.
The special setting in question is St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
Royal christenings have been enormous events and a cause for celebration where the members of the Royal Family come together to celebrate the joyous occasion.
The beautiful church on the Sandringham Estate is usually where the royals usually enjoy their Christmas Day service and hold their much-anticipated walkabout on their way back to the estate after church service.

BBC presenter makes brutal swipe at Meghan Markle
A BBC radio presenter has made a brutal 10-word swipe at Meghan Markle today on a live show. During BBC Radio Four’s Today show on Monday, presenter Nick Robinson made a joke about The Duchess of Sussex, 43, during a conversation about American celebrities.
While talking about the fact celebrities, including American TV host Gayle King and American pop star Katy Perry, are leading the space trip with Jeff Bezos's rocket company Blue Origin, Robinson made a 10-word swipe at Meghan. He said: “Surely Meghan Markle's got to be on the next one [rocket].” When finding out Prince Harry’s wife is friends with Gayle King, he then said: “Ah, it's only a matter of time.”

Neighbour claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'ignored' him
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not only quit royal duty five years ago, but they also decided to wave goodbye to life in the UK too. As well as wanting to be financially independent, it seems that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also wanted to be independent when it came to their everyday lives, resulting in them swapping their cottage home on the Windsor Estatefor a sprawling Montecito mansion in California.
While the pair have made headlines almost daily since their royal exit in 2020, their lives in Montecito remain fairly private, with not much known about their daily routines. Although Meghan, 43, has spoken about the importance of community before, one neighbour has made claims that the couple have practically ignored him since they moved in.

This nickname was revealed just last month when the princess celebrated her 35th birthday. In a heartfelt post on social media, Sarah, Duchess of York shared a public birthday message to her daughter, along with a series of photographs, to mark the milestone.

I'm an etiquette expert and Meghan Markle made a huge mistake at key royal event'
Meghan Markle made a huge mistake at a key royal event in June 2018, according to one etiquette expert. Just weeks after marrying Prince Harry in Windsor, the Duchess of Sussex made her debut at the 2018 Trooping the Colour.
With all eyes on the Duchess of Sussex's debut at one of the biggest events in the royal calendar, the 43-year-old arrived in an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress in a soft blush pink shade, complete with a matching Philip Treacy hat. Whilst many loved her choice of outfit for the springtime outing, many avid royal watchers raised their eyebrows at the choice due to the off-the-shoulder design.

Meghan Markle makes huge next move - and it has nothing to do with Prince Harry
Meghan Markle is stepping further into her desired venture as an entrepreneur - a move that has nothing to do with Prince Harry. In a recent interview with Fortune, Meghan shared that she is an angel investor in the healthcare company Midi Health.
Meghan, 43, has joined the company's £48million [$63m] Series B round last March, a source close to the matter recently told TechCrunch. The company provides a virtual care clinic where women aged 35 or over can speak to experts in perimenopause, menopause and other health-related concerns.

Queen Camilla’s hilarious two-word response when asked if King Charles will slow down
Queen Camilla has been asked if her husband would be taking it a little easier after his recent hospital admission - to which she replied with a hilarious two-word response. During their state visit to Italy last week, the King and Queen remained in Rome - a visit that aimed to strengthen the relationship between Italy and the UK.
The King was admitted to hospital at the end of March after experiencing side effects to his cancer treatment. Following this, experts and fans alike expressed whether the 76-year-old would now be more willing to slow down and take things slower - but, according to his wife, he does not.

Last time Prince Harry spoke to brother Prince William revealed, as Duke wants 'peace'
An insider has claimed the Duke of Sussex wants to "make peace" with his brother, Prince William, detailing the last time they had a full-length conversation. The source said: "Harry really is keen to try to salvage some kind of relationship or even reopen dialogue. They have not had any full-length conversations or discussions since they had some time together around the Queen’s passing."
They added: "And some of us saw Harry being so close to his brother as a gesture of saying 'hey I am here, close by... what about us trying to work things out'? The sad thing is that many of us, within Harry’s friends’ circles, feel he wants to somehow make peace and return to talking terms."

Inside King Charles’s posh ‘ghost town’ with £400k houses
Poundbury, built on Duchy of Cornwall land, is currently home to some 5,000 people in a mix of private and affordable housing, as well as providing employment for 2,730 people working in more than 250 shops, cafés, offices and factories. A further 200 people are employed in construction across the site and many more are self-employed and at times work from home.
The town in Dorchester, Dorset, was designed in accordance with the principles of architecture and urban planning as advocated by King Charles in his book 'A Vision of Britain'. It was named one of the best places to live in Britain by The Sunday Times last year, but it is reported to have a mixed reputation.

Out of touch Meghan Markle slammed as 'absolutely abnormal' after latest solo appearance
Meghan Markle has come under fire after attending a Broadway show in New York with what critics are calling an “excessive” security entourage. The former Suits actress and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Gypsy revival on Thursday night flanked by afour-car motorcade, including three black SUVs and an unmarked NYPD police vehicle.
The strict security setup, which allegedly involved two intelligence detectives riding in the police car and the use of former Secret Service agents, sparked backlash from members of the US paparazzi, who labelled the measures “absolutely abnormal, totally over-the-top and excessive,” according to Page Six.

Prince Harry slammed over 'complete nonsense' after bombshell new claim
A former Scotland Yard leader has dismissed Prince Harry's claim about police protection being withdrawn to prevent him and Meghan Markle from leaving the UK as being 'complete nonsense.'
The Duke of Sussex came back to London for a two-day appeal hearing this week at the Royal Courts of Justice, where he argued that the removal of publicly funded security in 2020 was done to deter the couple from stepping away from royal life and relocating to the United States.
