If I were Mr Carney, I'd have young Steven in for some one-way counselling. STFU and stay in your lane or I'll give your lane to someone else.
Somehow, I don't see this guy as whip having the same effect as a talking to, say, by Jenni B
Mark Gerretsen named chief government whip - iPolitics
The position became vacant after the previous whip, Rechie Valdez, was named to Prime Minister Mark Carney's cabinet on Tuesday.

We'll see how often Stevie G is allowed to colour outside the lines, especially on the pipeline or other energy issues - big indicator of "biz as usual" vs "new crew, new broom".

I suspect they are being given more autonomy which is good. But some like Guilbeault should stay in their lanes.

That might be fine but then we have to listen to people whining for another 20 yrs about no pipelines being built
Will we?
Biden cancelled Keystone.
Politicians, mainly in QC, made and make public statements that reasonably deter any private enterprises from undertaking the cost of even selling a proposal to build a pipeline to the east within Canada.
Kinder Morgan gave up on TMX because of political and legal obstructionism from activists.
That evidence suggests there is a threshold of political/legal interference below which corporations will attempt to be build pipelines. This is basically true of any theatre of commercial endeavour: governments have the power to strangle commerce or allow it to be strangled by third parties.
"Everybody" talks about successful Scandinavian social welfare states. "Everybody" also talks about how those states - particularly Sweden, which doesn't have Norway's large royalty-to-population assets - learned that they would have to be much more supportive of free trade and enterprise in order to pay the bills. Canadians, however, collectively seem to be too stupid or stubborn or complacent to put the two together.
Instead, we have large numbers of politically-organized people extracting transfers from the federal government while at the same time indulging themselves in the luxury of vetoing economic activity. They do this because they can and because they are selfish. As long as they can rely on the federal government and courts to uphold their entitlements, they can focus on claiming a bigger share of the pie without allowing it to grow. What I interpret from them is that everyone else can go fuck themselves. I am beyond tired of this, and prepared to upend most of the notions people cherish about the structure of Canada we inherited that was designed to protect a fragile network of colonies and trading posts.

Autonomy is one thing. Having the heritage/official languages/festivals minister comment publicly about pipelines (and since he was asked a question by a reporter, he could have chosen to say SFA) saying anything other than, "the government has a plan that was clearly outlined during the campaign" (or something similarly generic) is something else.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone to grab SG by the lapels and sternly admonish him not to piss on anyone else's rugs.

This sentiment is the root of the Alberta independence movement.

Admonish is wallpaper. If MC is serious about what he has been saying, he would turf him from cabinet immediately and entrench that tone. The fact this has had no response tells me this government is just like the last.

The fact he publicly vouched for an MP who called for the opposition candidate to be kidnapped and given to China for a bounty, who then resigned the next day, said just as much.

Oh it wasn't next day, it was a week later. Weak leadership from MC, should have fired him immediately but he needed those PRC whipped votes.

Mark Carney announces he won’t introduce a budget this year. Because he is a very smart economist and you are not a very smart economist.
A Liberal Minister is already fighting pipelines — saying no new ones should get built.
Parliament has been shut down since December — and the former failed Immigration and Housing — now Justice Minister is talking about working from home.
The new Housing Minister who nearly tripled housing costs as Vancouver’s Mayor — is telling everyone the cost of housing is fine.
These people are here to do exactly the same thing they did over the last 10 years
Love it. This is the government Canadians wanted.

Are public servants allowed to work from home ? I feel like this was stopped.

Yes. But only in certain circumstances and depending on their hybrid arrangement.

The Conservatives deserved to win one month then didn't deserve to win the next month based on one person joining a party.
I'm just glad housing isn't an issue anymore. Thats a big win for team Carney.

Sort of. Some have telework arrangements. Those have always been a thing. Nothing new. We have two on our team. And they were hired with that condition (but telework arrangements can be requested and approved at any time).
Right now we are 3 days in and two days remote but depending on your unit, operations can mean being in 5 days. Our executives have been told 4 days for them.
Also some people taking online courses or temporary personal circumstances can be given some leeway.
Situations can vary.
However the default TB direction is back in at least 3 days min.
I am also pretty sure there are also plenty not following the rules .
